Mentally challenged stepmother strangles 8-year-old to death in West Bengal’s Murshidabad, held

The body of the minor was recovered by locals who immediately alerted the police.

 A 30-year-old mentally challenged woman killed her 8-year-old daughter by strangling her to death in West Bengal’s Murshidabad on Wednesday. The police arrested a woman named Lalmon Bibi who throttled the minor after a heated argument.

The body of the minor was recovered by locals, who immediately alerted the police. It was sent to Jangipur Hospital for post-mortem.

As per our sources, the accused married the father of the deceased, Bassindra Alauddin Sheikh of Chachand village of Samserganj, earlier last year.

Sheikh introduced his children to his second wife, who eventually did not get along.

“Lalmon loved my son, but somehow she was indifferent to my daughter. I never thought she would commit such a crime,” Sheikh said.

Apart from strangling the little girl, Bibi also scratched her on the neck and torso before she further assaulted her. She restrained the girl and choked her until she breathed last. “I am devastated. I lost my daughter,” Sheikh said holding his tears back.

Meanwhile, local residents have come together to demand exemplary punishment for stepmothers.
